Protection of marine animals at Reethi Faru Resort on Maldives

Our second tip for your diving vacation on the Maldives is Reethi Faru Resort. It was opened only in the end of 2017 and already during its construction the preservation and maximum protection of the nature were of high importance. Because there are so many different marine animals living here, the Maldives are especially exciting for divers. To preserve this sensitive eco system, Reethi Faru has also initiated environment protection projects, e.g., the „Reethi garden“ to protect or rather reforest the coral reefs. 

Pieces of corals are tied to a frame in the lagoon, so that they can grow anew before being transplanted to the house reef again. However, there are even more projects and in particular diving fans bringing an underwater camera can help with the Manta ID and Turtle ID projects. If you dive past a ray or a tortoise, take a picture and show it to the resort’s marine biologist and thus help the researchers in understanding the animals.
