We asked our partners what their traditions are and how they celebrate. At the SAND Lifestylehotel, Christmas is all about the German classics: Stollen and homemade mulled wine. Adding to the cozy spirit are the homemade SANDcookies, which guests can snack on in the cozy candlelight of the beach hotel at the Timmendorfer Beach.

Advent time with many little traditions

For the Arnold family of the LENI MOUNTAIN in Sölden, Christmas is a very traditional celebration of high religious significance. Family father and hotel manager Marco says: “For us, it’s a celebration for the family. It is important to us in an otherwise busy and hectic year that two or three fixed points belong entirely to the family. One of them is Christmas.”

The entire Advent season is already peppered with small but traditional activities at the Arnolds’. On Advent Sundays, after the Advent caroling in the chapel, there is mulled wine and cookies with the neighbors from the communities higher up. “On Christmas Eve, we always get together at my parents’ house with the whole family and have fondue. That’s how it’s been, ever since I can remember. And before that, we go to evening mass with the kids.”

Wondering how that works as an innkeeper?

Arrivals and departures are avoided for Dec. 24 at LENI MOUNTAIN. This leaves more time for their own family — and the employees appreciate it, too. They are also allowed to spend the day with their loved ones at home.

Closed on Christmas Eve

The Okelmann family also wants to focus entirely on family  – which is why Okelmann’s in Lower Saxony is closed on Christmas Eve. “We cook a delicious and festive menu together after the service, drink a good wine and give each other lovingly selected gifts,” Kristin gushes about her holidays.

On the holidays, the hotel is open again and gives its guests a wonderful and smooth celebration. And when the lunch guests are taken care of, the whole team eats together and thus celebrates together with the “work family”.

Christmas Dinner Extravaganza

The Lichtmannegger family of the Berghotel Rehlegg likes it a bit more extravagant. At the Rehlegg, Christmas is celebrated with a big gala dinner. Every year, a multi-course menu is served here.

“We celebrate the advent season with our own Christmas market, with homemade cookies and punch,” Katharina describes.

The holiday itself is also celebrated together with the guests: “It’s tradition in the family and at the Rehlegg.”

Celebrating in Thailand

Things are also extravagant at Keemala in Thailand for Christmas. The eco-resort, with its 38 distinctively designed villas and cottages, hosts a special evening event: the ‘Christmas Eve Dinner’ at the Mala Restaurant and In-Villa with canapés, seafood and cocktails.

Pampering at the spa or relaxing by the pool during the day and an extravagant dinner in the evening – you can’t spend the holidays much more luxuriously than this.
