Are you looking for some new ideas for your winter vacation? We have some exciting alternatives for skiing that you shouldn’t miss on your next winter holiday in Bad Herrenalb.

The Black Forest is a varied travel destination in summer but especially in winter when everything is beautifully covered with snow you can experience a lot. Much more than just skiing! The small town of Bad Herrenalb is the perfect starting point for your eco winter vacation because it is not only certified as a sustainable travel destination and fair-trade town but also offers some exciting activities. Let’s start with our three favorites for winter!

  1. Snowshoe Tours in the untouched landscape

What hiking is in summer, snowshoeing is in winter! Have you already tried it? In the meantime, we have become real snowshoe fans and have already explored the most diverse winter wonderlands with them. However, if you’ve never done it before, a guided tour is worthwhile. The Adventure World in Bad Herrenalb offers (depending on the snow conditions, of course) tours regularly, mostly on Saturdays and Sundays – and individual arrangements for groups.

Do you want to try snowshoeing for the first time and don’t have your equipment yet? No problem, because you get them for the guided tour anyway – and you can also rent shoes and poles from Adventure World for your individual tours. Just try it out, we promise it’s worth it! 🙂

  1. Scandinavian feeling in Bad Herrenalb

Have you ever let a husky pull you through the snow? If not, then you should try a husky ride through the Black Forest: With the husky team, you race through the forest amidst the idyllic winter landscape. Afterward, you can enjoy typical Scandinavian meat specialties or a cheese fondue at the fireplace.

If you don’t like it fast, just as exciting is husky trekking. You are tied to your dog by a waist belt – so, in fact, you walk with animal support! Because the animals have a lot of strength, participants must be at least 18 years old and in good physical condition.  In the Sieben-Täler-Therme back in Bad Herrenalb, you can warm up and relax. The perfect all-round package, don’t you think?

  1. Traditional folk sports for the whole family

Are you traveling with your family and want to try something new? In winter, the Adventure World ice stock shooting is built up in front of the Albtal-Stadl in Bad Herrenalb. Traditional ‘Eisstockschießen’ is similar to curling: the goal is to let your curling slide as close as possible to a square wooden block in the field (the so-called “stave”). Of course, you can also shoot the opponents’ curling stones. A fun competition for young and old!

Sustainable accommodations in Bad Herrenalb

What would our Green Travel Blog be without a recommendation for your eco-friendly accommodation in Bad Herrenalb? The SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA is not only repeatedly certified for its many sustainable initiatives, but also offers a wonderful and spacious wellness area.

The Hotel Lamm in Rotensol is particularly interesting for all lovers of fine wines and whiskeys. Both beginners and connoisseurs learn new things in the cellar vault and try regional products as well as international rarities.

On one side the small river Alb, on the other the Black Forest and in the middle maximum relaxation – you find that in the beautifully furnished apartments of Schwarzwaldstrand.
