The white bathrobe has had its day! At least in international hotels. According to industry insiders, manufacturers and suppliers, the fashion of the bathrobe has undergone a major overhaul. Mainly because bathrobes are now supposed to be selfie-ready. They are also part of the overall aesthetic concept and offer hotels the opportunity to strengthen their brand through branding. We have asked our partners and present to you the bathrobe trends for 2024 from sustainable hotels.

Hooded robes

The first trend to make an appearance, also in the Green PearlsⓇ accommodations, is the hoodie. The hood adds a sporty touch to the bathrobe. But don’t worry, you don’t have to box in a Rocky Balboa-style robe – you can just look like you’ve checked in as a boxer* and are relaxing in the wellness area (before or after the fight).

With the Hoodie Wave bathrobe you are perfectly dressed for the outdoor pool or the Mountain Spring Spa at the HUBERTUS Mountain Refugio Allgäu. The bathrobe is dark gray. The “Lust auf Leben” logo is printed on the back. In the light-filled spa area with lots of wood and natural materials, you can get a professional training plan for relaxation techniques.

Robes also for kids

In Seefeld, Tyrol, the Hotel Klosterbräu offers 3,500 square meters of wellness facilities. Hooded bathrobes are available in brown for adults and white for children. They are embroidered with the YOUNIQUE logo of Hotel Klosterbräu and have a belt and sewn-on (smartphone) pockets. The heated outdoor pool and the panoramic rooftop pool are perfect for taking a selfie – both have the Seefelder logo on them.

Feel good in sea blue at the OCÉANO Health Spa Hotel

“According to the OCÉANO Health Spa Hotel in Tenerife, “In a health spa hotel, the bathrobe is a popular and everyday item of clothing during the day. To ensure that “guests feel completely comfortable in them,” the bathrobes were designed to be “especially cuddly.

The robes of the sustainable health and wellness hotel are fashionable as well. The bathrobe trend for 2023 includes bathrobes that are only up to the knees. Blue is also the current trend! In Tenerife, however, the color was chosen because the sea blue is in harmony with the surroundings. At the OCÉANO Health Spa Hotel, you will wear your robe to the seawater infinity pool. You will also wear it to the Center of Healthy Motion with its gym and yoga.

That’s why (organic) cotton is the best material for bathrobes

Even though fashion has changed a lot, cotton terry is still the most popular and best material for bathrobes. In terrycloth, the threads are woven in loops, making the cotton super absorbent and also nice and cozy to the touch.

Cotton has many advantages. It is

– a natural, renewable raw material

– highly absorbent

– skin friendly

– Suitable for people with allergies

– long lasting

– washable

– biodegradable

Cotton is often a more sustainable choice than synthetic fibers such as polyester. However, there are environmental drawbacks. For example, large amounts of water and pesticides are used in conventional cotton farming. These are harmful to the soil and to the workers*. A better choice is organic cotton. Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides. Other organic materials are Lyocell/Tencel or hemp.

The Naturhotel Outside, located in the Hohe Tauern National Park in Tyrol, Austria, is committed to ensuring that bathrobes are made from sustainable materials and are also produced locally. Sustainability is also the reason why white bathrobes with a discreet hotel logo are still available – the durable quality keeps the cotton bathrobes in top condition even after years, and it would be a shame to waste resources on a new trend.

The Hotel Weihrerhof on the Ritten in South Tyrol also has cotton bathrobes – but not in white, but in five different colors! This way you can find a color that is particularly flattering to your skin tone (for the selfie). For example, a strong red is recommended if you are fair-skinned. You can use it to relax in the boathouse sauna.

Thin robes in Thailand

Bathrobes should not only dry quickly, but also have a certain “cuddle factor”, as you have seen with our European partners. In Thailand, however, this is not the case. At the sustainable Keemala Resort on the island of Phuket, the bathrobes are also made of cotton, but they are not made of terry cloth. A “cuddly, soft feel” is important in addition to the natural material. The robes are airy and cooling, and also match the authentic Keemala design of the villas between the sea and the rainforest. Even without the hood, the robe looks elegant.
