Days are long, everyday life stressful – and at once we decide for ready-to-serve meals and junk food. This is neither good for our body, nor the purse or the environment. The solution: Meal Prep!

Meal Prep is not new and simply means cooking. Already our grandparents were, thanks to bottling and preserving, Meal-Preppers – and today luckily this is hip again. With Meal Prep we plan our dishes ahead, purchase target-oriented and ideally use all food. Thus, we contribute actively to reduce food waste and besides save money.

Every day tasty food in no time

Everything starts before shopping: On the list – and thus also in the shopping cart – is only what is needed for the planned meal. After the purchase the food is not strewn at large in the fridge, but immediately processed and packed in glasses and tins. Thus, in the morning we can simply take them and eat for lunch. The planning and cooking is a bit time consuming of course – however, in this way at the end we save lots of time, nerves and money. And after a few weeks you find your routine and the Meal-Prepping is easier, promised.

That’s how it works!

Select the weekend for shopping and cooking. Fresh salads or quickly perishable products like meat or fish should be used on the beginning of the week, potatoes and noodles at the end. Glasses, tins and small bottles are best for portioning and preserving.

Rice, Cous-Cous, Quinoa and Co. are ideal for Meal-Prepping. Once prepared, all kinds of tasty dishes can be conjured with them: A Mexican salad with maize, kidney beans and coriander, an Asian inspired one with coconut milk, Chinese cabbage, tofu or chicken or rather a Greek salad with feta, olives and tomatoes. And the best thing is: All dishes can be warmed up in the microwave, or either eaten coldly as a salad.

Meal Prep on vacation? No problem!

Of course, you can have your food for your excursions prepared at your hotels – or do it yourself: At the family hotel Gut Nisdorf at the Boddenküste you are invited to take bread and rolls from the breakfast buffet and prepare a packed lunch. And who has children knows that the little ones on the way to the sea are starving after five minutes. 🙂 Besides, the fruit basket in the dining room of the Gut Nisdorf invites to nibble just as the juice spritzers and free water.

The SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA in Bad Herrenalb uses for its packed lunches only paper bags of the WIN! – Charter Baden Wurttemberg (a voluntary self-obligation for sustainability) and would like to inspire others to a more sustainable management. Bread rolls are not packed in plastic, but in small paper bags. Apples, eggs and peanuts come in a natural packaging and packed bolts are not used.

Picnic in the woods or at the sea

Who on vacation longs for a picnic is in good hands at our hotels – and can experience special places. At the Villa Breitenberg chef Guido Hettler arranges all kinds of delicacies for you to enjoy during your discovery tour in the Bavarian woods and at the Keemala Resort on the Thai Island Phuket you are invited for a romantic picnic during sunset.
