Since the beginning of September 2020, the Gili Lankanfushi resort in the Maldives is open again. With its 45 spacious villas spread over three walkways, it offers enough privacy in the heart of a gorgeous landscape. But how does the vacation under Corona conditions work? How does travel 2021 work? We asked some questions at the resort for you.
Social Distancing for a relaxing vacation
The resort has effectively used the time of last year’s closure to develop a new health and safety protocol. Rooms are cleaned with high-tech disinfection systems prior to your arrival. The restaurants and Meera Spa have been remodeled to provide the necessary distance from other guests. Seating and lounging areas at the pool, beach, or spa are disinfected after each use. Other than that, there are now almost no restrictions for a relaxing vacation. All areas of the resort are open and available for your use. Tammy Gan, the Marketing Communications Manager, answered our most important questions.
Is it necessary to take a Corona test when arriving in the Maldives?
Up to 96 hours prior to arrival in the Maldives, it is necessary to have a PCR test. You can find more information on the website of the hotel.
Where in the resort is it necessary to wear a mask?
With your arrival at the resort, you can move freely everywhere without a mask.
Is it necessary to register for dinner?
No, a reservation for dinner is not necessary. If you want to eat at the Japanese restaurant “By The Sea”, however, a reservation is recommended, as the restaurant has limited seating and is usually booked out quickly. The resort offers changing theme nights every evening in its various restaurants. For example, there’s an Asian Street Market with live cooking stations or the Fisherman’s Grill, a semi-buffet where the main course is served. You can also book private dining experiences, for example on the beach or in the underground wine room.
What activities are currently offered?
All activities are offered as usual, including cooking classes. Only the weekly cocktail party, where the hotel management normally celebrates with the guests, is currently canceled, unfortunately.
How do you operate the spa? Are all treatments offered?
In the spa, all treatments are offered without restrictions. However, prior reservation is required as treatment rooms and therapists are limited.
Are there regulations or guidelines for the pool?
Since this is an open area that extends to the beach, there are no special regulations. You have enough space here to keep the distance from other guests.
Do you have many guests? / How is the “contact” with other guests?
At the moment there is a high occupancy rate between 70-80%, over Easter, we reached about 90%. However, there are only 45 villas in total. All villas and facilities are widely distributed and the dining areas are all outdoors, which allows social distancing without any problems.
