Our Green Pearls® Hotels show every day how well travel and sustainability can be combined. This is made possible by people who put their heart and soul into making the world a greener place – and that’s exactly what we want to show you in our series.
Today our journey takes us to South Tyrol, to be precise to Ritten, Oberbozen – the location of the Hotel Rinner. Here, Paul Rinner and his family take care that you will have an exciting and unforgettable stay. In the hotel, it is all about bees and the healing power from the beehive. API-Wellness is unique worldwide. Besides the nectar, the bees bring valuable ingredients such as essential oils, flavonoids from honey, pollen, wax and propolis into the beehive. Those are released into the beehive air through heat and ventilation produced by the bees with their wings. And it is this valuable beehive air that you breathe in during the unique Api-Wellness.

Our story:
The Hotel Rinner was built by Pauls’s father Karl Rinner in the early 1970s. The history behind is unique and reflects what the roots and our great passion. The first foundation walls were built as a bee house.
Since 2000 I have been running the family business and the bee house – with my family. In the same year, I made a conscious decision to convert my conventional beekeeping into organic beekeeping. When I listen to the bees, I forget everything around me. There is no time because my orientation is the sun. Never had a watch before (smiles). When it is dark, I know it is time. I feel very closely connected to the industrious beings – I knew that I had to share this with guests – because a lot of things have been forgotten.
We used to work much more with nature, benefited and learned from nature. The topic of sustainability was also familiar to everyone and everyone knew how to use nature for their own good.
For me sustainability means:
Nature gives us everything we need; we just have to realize it and someone has to help us understand. Information in times like these is very important because as we can see, it only works together with nature.

I am especially proud of this green initiative at Hotel Rinner:
My grandfather and father had already practiced API-Therapy before the world wars, without consciously knowing it as such. The holistic knowledge of bees has been lost over the last 100 years with the rise of conventional western medicine and the emergence of the pharmaceutical industry. The only thing left to us is honey, as an economic part of beekeeping. But there is so much more…
“So, now we are committed to the recognition of the great and important natural products in API therapy at the hotel. Because that is exactly what we built the hotel and beehive.”

That is what makes the Hotel Rinner so special:
A lot of things have been forgotten for a long time and with our API Wellness, we want to create consciousness and learn to love and care for nature.
This is what we plan for the future:
In order to take up this topic even more consciously and perceptibly, we are planning a separate bedroom in the bee house, where you can listen to the bees buzzing all night long and still breathe in the valuable bee air. This air is enriched with essential oil, flavonoids, aromatic substances, smells delicately of beeswax, has an antibacterial effect and is beneficial for the respiratory tract
