Vitamin D comes in different forms. Vitamin D3 is vital for us. It can be produced by the body itself if we get enough sunlight. It is also contained in fatty fish such as salmon and herring, although it is not possible to eat enough of these to cover the necessary vitamin D requirement.

Vitamin D protects us from osteoporosis and activates hundreds of genes in our cells that are responsible for numerous organ functions. With a lack of vitamin D, these functions are disturbed. Today we know that vitamin D is also an absolute booster for the immune system. There are even studies that indicate that the level of vitamin D in the body has an influence on the progress of COVID-19 disease. For example, scientists have found that a good vitamin D status can positively influence the progress of the disease.

Unfortunately, producing enough vitamin D from sunlight is not that easy anymore. Most of the time, the necessary intensity of the sun is not enough to be able to produce enough vitamin D. Especially in regions where the sun does not shine all year round, most people suffer from a vitamin D deficiency. The level of the vitamin can be easily determined by a blood analysis at the doctor’s office. If a deficiency is found, it should definitely be taken as a dietary supplement.

The good thing is that vitamin D is stored by the body and therefore you can get along well without the sun for some time. Where and in which Green Pearls® Hotels you can best fill up on vitamin D, you can find out here.
